The Reception Building or Main Inn is a historic home built in 1897 by William Sidney Smith as a summer retreat for his family.
Options at The Beaufort Inn include rooms, suites, cottages and extended stay units...while any number of these can work for a family, we're partial to the 808-bay-dubbed accommodations.
808 Bay Street (Main Street in Beaufort's Historic District) and Henry C. The chamber sits in the middle of waterfront parkland, with an entrance from one -- to a screened-in patio between the main formal entrance and the kitchen. A second that allows access up the stairs from your private parking area, through the back porch, and into the master suite.
Inside you'll find a spacious kitchen with everything you need for meal prep or snack storage. Off the kitchen is a dining room for six and opens to a spacious living area with plenty of seating and a flat-screen cable TV.

This community space has beautiful light through windows opening onto the patio (with plenty of seating) and large windows with floor-to-ceiling double doors that open onto a narrow balcony overlooking Bay Street.
To the right of the living room is a small room with a wardrobe and a fold-out twin sofa bed. It would work well for a baby if you need extra space, or could double as a reading nook and storage space.
Down the long hallway you will find a full bath, two large bedrooms with queen beds, a laundry room and the master suite.
The master features ample storage options, a sitting area, a king bed, a huge walk-in closet and a full bath with a walk-in shower.

Apart from being spacious, the apartment is beautifully decorated with large artworks, white and yellow-gray shades and old-fashioned dark wooden floors. We immediately felt at home!

As I mentioned above, the upper level apartment sits between Main Street and Waterfront Park. You are in the heart of Beaufort and every shop, restaurant and cultural attraction is at your fingertips. There are so many things to do within walking distance that staying at the Beaufort Inn makes sense because of its great location!
Every night of our stay, we walked the back steps to the park for live music, watched the sunset over the water, played on the playground, and enjoyed Yoyo's ice cream. For kayaking, river boating, carriage rides and more, you just walk to the park and boardwalk to the marina.

You're only a block from the building where their front desk is located – so you can easily take advantage of the amenities we'll mention later, like bikes and s'mores. And right below you? Kilwin's sweet shop!
There are no other overnight options on this bustling stretch of Bay Street, nor any other private rooftop terrace on Bay St. Perfect for soaking up the salty air, people watching and listening to live music. It is truly a gem!
We love that our accommodation comes with breakfast - and love the way it works even more! Of course, you can serve breakfast here. The behemoth kitchen pictured above may have omelets and bacon…but the vouchers on offer are more fun to use.
Best Places To Stay In Beaufort Sc, From Luxury Hotels To Quaint B&bs
The Beaufort Inn offers each person an $8-10 breakfast voucher for each night of their stay, at your choice of Common Ground, Rain-N-Bagels or Blackstone Cafe.
We had coffee on the common ground the first afternoon and it was great. Another morning we had a good picket at Blackstone. I loved the omelet there… the boys loved the bacon with their mouse shaped chocolate chip pancakes too!
I think my favorite breakfast bagel was at the joint! The original owner is from New York, and the chef I spoke with is also from there. I loved everything bagel with eggs, cheese and Taylor ham. It was a unique NY offering and it was.
Guests of The Beaufort Inn are provided with a complimentary Hunting Island State Park Beach Pass for access to the state park. We enjoyed this park: climbing the lighthouse, walking on the driftwood beach, and playing in the ocean.
Best Western Sea Island Inn
Guests can enjoy complimentary bicycles to explore The Point, Spanish Moss Trail and the surrounding area. You'll ask one of the friendly staff for a bike and they'll set you up with a helmet (optional), sign a waiver and give you the keys to the lock. Then, you're off — explore downtown Beaufort at your leisure.
A note - there are no children's bikes available. Bring it with you... It's not that hard to drag a grown-up bike out of the house.
Relive the past with this buggy tour narrated by the guide and our horse clips. Learn about Beaufort's Civil War history. See antebellum and Victorian architecture as well as Hollywood film sites. Tours last approximately 50 minutes and depart from the Waterfront Park area frequently at 9:40am and 5pm, Monday through Saturday. Sunday tours depart at 12pm.
Finally, there's no pool, but you're in luck if you need a break from the beach. The Inn has a partnership with the Cat Island Pool which is open Tuesday to Sunday (in season) from 10am to 8pm.

How does it work? The Beaufort Inn front desk will provide you with a pool code upon request. Guests are asked to bring their own towels (ask The Beaufort Inn front desk if you need one). The pool has a cafe/bar and drinks and snacks are available for purchase. No outside food or drink is allowed.
In addition to what I mentioned above, you will find all the amenities you would expect in a luxury hotel: free Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, an ironing board, and even an apartment. For this room service I say "room service" because most people think of AirBnB when you describe an overnight "apartment". AirBnB doesn't just help take out your trash, make your bed, and lay out fresh towels...it's the best of both worlds (oh, and hey! leave them a tip!).
But there is more - much more! (See what I did there?) In the evening you can visit the main pink building. Outside in the courtyard they offer packets of s'mores and sticks to roast your own marshmallows in the fire pit. Leave the credit card at home - they are complementary. Enjoy a drink on one of the rocking chairs and let the kids do their thing.
We love that Waterfront Park is back and easily accessible from 808 Bay. It's great fun for kids, with a playground nearby.

Finally, let's talk about Fido. He's part of the family, right? There are a few rooms for dogs. A $250 refundable deposit is required upon arrival, and there is a pet fee for 1 or 2 dogs, which must be under 40 pounds. And yes, they're welcome in waterfront parks too...and on the patios of many restaurants around town.
